Apart from the physical security issue the industry faces, we will also be considering the security issues surrounding the “internet of things“ the process whereby objects are able to communicate with each other either over the internet or via direct, close proximity connections.
Logistics itself is at the cutting edge of the “Physical Internet” concept. Just as data communications are standardised so that diverse systems can interconnect easily via self selecting routes, the need within logistics is that the same degree of interoperability and route self selection be available for goods in transit. The aim of course is greater route transparency with the ultimate aim of improving efficiency overall and the elimination of empty kilometres in truck transport.
The internet of things is in progress now and its implementation brings the concept of Physical Internet closer. It is to these concepts that this Autumn’s Forum Logistics Intelligence will focus, providing insights from different perspectives from the various sectors of the business community: telecommunications, transport and logistics plus vehicle construction Science, internet security, physical internet and education.
Our aim, with such a diverse range of speakers is to reveal the full scope of the topic, informing the audience of both the trends and the requirements our industry faces.
With our consideration of this topic the forum again reinforces our mission statement:
"The Forum for the people behind the logistics“
